Being inspired by self-made artists, Michelle started her own creative journey in a world of cuteness. These funny little potato-looking creatures can surely light up your days.
I was born in New Jersey, though I should say that I’m a first gen American (from Poland), which probably has more to do with my upbringing than my actual birth state. I’m now in NYC.
Hmm – I don’t remember when I started being involved with art in the same way that I don’t remember the first time I started writing words, but I’ve always had a knack for creating things. This led me to attending a fine art school, MICA, where I majored in Illustration. I’ve been illustrating/animating content for brands professionally since then, so.. a few years?
Yam Fam is actually my 2nd sticker pack! I started with “Porucz Pack” and became a little enamored with the idea of digital stickers, so I wanted to produce another pack that was narrowed down further into a theme. The potato characters were a set that I originally wanted to make into physical puffy stickers, so I had some of them already sketched out. Bringing them to life and seeing people use them in conversation is too fun.
My list of favorite artists is always evolving, but right now I’m a little obsessed with all the artists at Pictoline and how quickly they’re pushing out all this amazing work. I’m also trying to learn Spanish, so their work really resonates with me.
The hustle. Treading the waters of work consistency. If you want to make it on freelancing alone, it can be slow to start.
Right now I’m trying to build up my personal brand. I’m so inspired by all the self-made artists and creators that have established themselves as their own brand and have been making/selling their crafts, from GIFs, stickers, and editorial pieces to pins and clothes, and beyond. I’m trying to catch up!
